Information Guide
Welcome
We are proud to welcome you to Ocean19, part of the Blue Bay Golf and Beach Resort. Enjoy the beautiful weather, views, beach, water and many amenities that the Resort and Curaçao have to offer.
We like Ocean19 for its proximity to the beach and the privacy of the patio that overlooks the beach area. Ocean19 provides a place to relax in the fresh ocean air with easy access to the beach, restaurants and water. With many activities on-site, walking, golfing and tennis are an option for those so inclined. Island adventures can be accessed from Blue Bay or easily by exploring on your own.
We trust that you will find all the amenities to make your stay a great one. We try to help preserve the natural features of Curaçao with our regular choices. Power and water are scarce on the island. Please respect the environment, the island, and use water and energy consciously.

About The Apartment

Ocean19 is yours to enjoy. We hope you will enjoy the apartment as much as we do. We do request that you respect the apartment, as you would your own property, during your stay. There is one locked utility closet that is not accessible to renters.
Accidents do happen. If items are damaged or broken, please let the property manager know as soon as possible. We are both families with three children, as such we are not immune to accidents or mishaps 😊.
The apartment is inspected prior to arrival and after your departure. Damage caused by neglectful behaviour will be reported and dealt with, as needed.
How To Get To ocean19
Here’s a map of how to get to the apartment once past security. Follow the purple line to the orange star.

Blue Bay is a gated community with 24/7 security. A security gate is situated at the entrance to the resort. Use the visitors lane when you enter and exit the resort (residents have a dedicated gate for quick access).
Security at the gate is managed using ‘Proptia’ software. Prior to your arrival, the property manager will create an invite in Proptia via email providing you a Guest Pass for the Blue Bay Resort. Guests will have the option to launch the ePass on their mobile device using the Proptia mobile app and/or to print out the pass. The Proptia ePass (digital pass with QR code) will allow guests to enter and exit the resort, and will also provide access to the beach. Visitors may be stopped and asked to provide valid ID at the security gate.
As we are located steps from the Beach😊, it is easiest to simply follow the signs to the beach. Once close to the beach, you will see the yellow building, but will be required to pass through the beach parking lot. The beach parking has one-way lanes, so please take care to take the appropriate lane. The parking area for our apartment is accessed from the end of the beach parking lot closest to the beach and to the left (south). Ocean19 is the first yellow building when you enter the parking area for our building. There is no designated parking, so you can park in any available spot.
Your Beach Passes
Beach passes are provided to each guest (up to 4 guests) to permit entrance to the beach and lounge chairs free of charge. Use your Proptia ePass at the beach entrance kiosk to access the beach.
Your Pool
Ocean19 is part of the Blue Emerald Homeowners Association, which includes three apartment blocks (the Yellow, Green and Blue buildings). A pool is situated between the green and blue building. The pool is available to guests for their use. Please ensure that children are accompanied by an adult at all times.
Cleaning Service (During your Stay)
Upon request, the property manager may coordinate additional cleaning for guests during their stay. Additional cleaning may be provided at an additional cost of US$100, to be paid directly to the property manager.

Garbage and Recycling
If you need to throw out garbage from the apartment, please use the green bins that are located at the north end of the parking area. If you are driving out of the parking area, or walking to the beach, the green bins are located to the right. Please do not leave garbage outside of the bins and always ensure the bins are closed.
There is limited recycling in Curaçao. Recycling includes plastic bottles and containers (PET Types 1, 2, and 5) and aluminum cans (for drinks only). If you are unsure of whether a container may be recycled, check the recycling triangle at the bottom of the container. At this time, we are not aware of any recycling programs for cardboard, paper, tin cans, and glass. These items will need to be placed in the garbage.
Where can you find the recycling bins?
- At the beach entrance and to the right of the beach entrance
- In front to the golf clubhouse entrance
- Next to the main entrance to the resort
Electricity and Water
The apartment has 220V outlets. While some plug adaptors are available for guest use, adaptors may also be purchased on the island.
We trust that you will find all the amenities to make your stay a great one. Power and water are scarce on the island. We ask that you please use water and energy consciously
Air conditioners are the biggest users of electricity. Running all three air-conditioners 24 hours a day will consume extreme amounts of energy. Using air conditioners at extremely low temperatures (less than 24/25 degrees celsius) will also consume extreme amounts of electricity.

You will find that most rental units in Curaçao charge guests for electricity based on their use. To facilitate simpler rental and remove complications with energy tracking and post-stay follow-up, we are not charging for electricity. However, we are monitoring use during each guests’ stay and may change the system if energy costs become a burden. Please do your part – keep energy use reasonable.
Drinking Water – The water is supplied via a communal system and is safe to drink! It is excellent quality so there’s no need to purchase bottled water.
Toilets!! – Only toilet paper should be flushed. Flushing other items can lead to clogged pipes.
TVs

There is a TV in the living room and master bedroom. Both televisions are Roku “smart” TVs. Here’s the basics of how to get started using your Roku TVs.
When you turn on a TV, you’ll be taken to the Home page.
To the right of the menu are the “channels” that are available on the Roku TV. There are three types of channels on the Roku TV.
Channels Requiring Login Details – We’ve installed the main paid streaming services, such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime and Apple TV. To use these services just click on the channel and log into your account, like you would at home. Ideally you log out of your accounts prior to your departure. If you forget, we’ll do our best to log you out of your services at the end of your stay, but we’re recommending you do this yourself.
Free Channels – There’s a variety of installed channels that are “free” including children’s programming, news, and live TV. The “Roku Channel” has over 500 channels with a TV guide that cover a broad spectrum of interests. Youtube is also available.
Paid Subscriptions – We also pay monthly for a few local news channels so you can access some local news and Dutch news as well. The Netherlands channel has – Go TV, Ede, L1, RTVUtrecht, RTVDrentre, RefuonTV and HK13. The Curaçao TV channel also has 3 local options.
Screen Mirroring – For the more technical guests, Roku TVs also offer the possibility to use the televisions to “mirror” directly from your phone or laptop. This means that anything you do on your phone or laptop can be “broadcast” to the TV.
Feel free to explore the options on the Roku TV. If this type of experience is new to you, take a few minutes to look around and see for yourself what the options are. In the event that you have any questions about what a Roku TV is or how it works visit Roku.com

Insects
The climate is warm, tropical and semi-arid. The rainy season typically occurs between September and January with most ‘heavy’ rainfalls usually experienced between October and December. Insects are a fact of life in this tropical climate. You can expect insects to be around outside, particularly in the evening. We generally recommend leaving doors closed to avoid excessive insects in the apartment. If windows are opened, please pull down the screens.
Mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk, and most prevalent in the wet season. In tropical countries mosquitoes can carry disease. Bug repellant or wearing long pants will avoid bug bites and reduce risk.

Blue Bay fogs around the building every Wednesday at 7am to reduce insects. This appears as a mist or smoke that will dissipate readily. Keeping doors and windows closed is recommended.
Cockroaches occur naturally in Curaçao – they are nocturnal and will occasionally venture into the apartment. If you see several cockroaches in the apartment during your stay, we ask that you please notify the property manager.

Parties and Events
Large gatherings, or parties, are not permitted. Please respect the neighbors by keeping music and other noise at an appropriate volume. Please respect the quiet hours. Quiet hours are between 22:00 and 08:00.
Smoking
No smoking inside the apartment.
Fire Extinguisher and Fire Aid Kit
A fire extinguisher and first aid kit are available for guest use. If the fire extinguisher is used during your stay, please inform the property manager so that the extinguisher can be replaced. Further, to ensure that the first aid kit remains well stocked, please inform the property manager if some of the first aid items are used.
Check-In and Check-Out
Check in is after 15:00 and check out is before 11:00.
At Check-Out:
Please communicate your time with the property manager
Place dirty dishes in the dishwasher and turn the dishwasher on
Please place dirty laundry in the bath-tub
Place apartment keys on the kitchen table
Please ensure air conditioners are turned off
Please close all windows and lock the doors (including the sliding doors)
AirBnB Reviews
If you booked the apartment through AirBnB, you will be invited to leave a review on the platform to share your appreciation of our property with other users, as well as the quality of our communications. We aim to be attentive to the needs of our guests and always try to ensure that you feel well taken care of. It would be greatly appreciated if you could take some time to leave us a review, at your convenience🙂. Please note that on rental platforms, contrary to popular belief, a 4-star rating is considered ‘mediocre’ or “bad”. We ask you to keep this in mind when evaluating your stay. Of course, if you are not satisfied with any aspect of your stay, it’s normal to mention it in your review.
